The 3 Biggest Mistakes A Traveler Makes
Most travelers think that having the ability to get to a destination and stay wherever they like are the most important factors to successful travel. Bear with me a moment while I differ with you. It doesn’t matter how easy and fast you can get there or how adaptable you are to the places you are staying in, if you don’t correct the following mistakes you’ll not see the happiness and satisfaction you crave.
- Not understanding the details of the favorite country you want to visit.
Your favorite destination should be the one that you have always dreamed about. This is the one which would be at the top of your bucket list if you have one. If you can do your homework and hash out all of the parts of the country you want to experience, you are on the right road.
- Not understanding the indigenous citizens of your destination country and the things that are important to them. If you truly understand their culture and their values and you can show respect for those things that are important to them, you will be much better received and treated when you visit their country.
- Not understanding the words, idioms and expressions that you should avoid using when in the presence of the native people.
You, the traveler tend to describe your wants and needs using expressions and language that you are familiar and comfortable with. Does it ever occur to you that the native citizens may use different words or phrases when referring to your problem. Only when you use language that is familiar to them are you truly communicating with them.
If you are just starting out as a traveler, then you want to make sure that your first task is to truly understand how to make yourself fit into the environment you will be visiting. Remember it is their environment and not yours and you need to adapt yourself to it and not the other way around.
